Dedication Ceremony for Willapa Bay being a site in the WHSRN

Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network
Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network

Manomet is an organization based on the east coast that focuses on sustainability with one particular group focusing on shorebird recovery. Willapa Bay was just recently designated as a site within the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN). This basically means it's important habitat for shorebirds.

Manomet helped students in local schools to create shorebirds artwork with conservation messages that will be displayed along the peninsula both in outdoor areas (beaches approaches, the port of Ilwaco and other places) and public facilities (libraries, local stores, and other places).

A ceremony (pdf) will take place on International Migratory Bird Day on May 13th from 2-4pm at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco to celebrate the WSHRN designation. All of the students' artwork will be displayed and there will be several speakers in regards to shorebird conservation - Free food and a fun time
